Bare Metal Service Termination — FAQ

Bare Metal Service Termination — FAQ

Last updated: 18 March 2026

General Questions

Ingenuity Cloud Services has made the strategic decision to exit the bare metal hosting market entirely. This affects all bare metal customers across all locations. This decision does not impact our SSD VPS product offering, which will continue to operate normally.

All bare metal dedicated server services across all Ingenuity Cloud Services locations are affected. This includes:

  • All bare metal servers regardless of location
  • All associated IP addresses
  • All bare metal-specific add-ons and configurations

This termination does not affect:

  • SSD VPS services
  • Any other non-bare-metal products

All bare metal services will cease operation on 31 May 2026. Your service will continue to operate normally until that date.

Timeline & Deadlines

  • 18 March 2026: Termination notice issued
  • 18 April 2026: Deadline to acknowledge this notice
  • 1 May 2026: Unacknowledged services will be suspended
  • 31 May 2026: All bare metal services terminate permanently

This is the deadline for you to acknowledge receipt of the termination notice. You must reply to the support ticket we created for you, confirming you have received and understood this communication.

If we do not receive your acknowledgement by 18 April 2026, your bare metal services will be fully suspended on 1 May 2026. This means:

  • Servers will be powered off
  • Network access will be restricted
  • You will not be able to access your data

To restore service, you must reply to the support ticket acknowledging the notice. However, restored services will still terminate on 31 May 2026.

We need confirmation that you are aware of the upcoming termination and have time to plan your migration. This protects both you and us by ensuring there are no surprises on 31 May 2026.

Service Continuity

Yes. Your services will continue to operate normally until 31 May 2026. There will be:

  • No degradation of service
  • No changes to access controls
  • No changes to support availability
  • Normal uptime and performance guarantees

Yes. Our support team will continue to provide full support for all bare metal services until 31 May 2026. You can contact support via:

Yes. You will have full access to your control panel and all server management tools until 31 May 2026.

Billing & Refunds

Yes. You will continue to be billed at your current rate until 31 May 2026.

If you have prepaid for services extending beyond 31 May 2026, a prorated refund will be automatically issued for the unused period.

Refunds for prepaid services will be processed automatically after 31 May 2026. Please allow standard processing time for refunds to appear in your account.

If you migrate your services before 31 May 2026, please contact Support to discuss early termination and potential refunds for the remaining period.

Data & Migration

On 31 May 2026, all bare metal services will be switched off permanently and all data will be permanently deleted. Ingenuity Cloud Services will not retain backups of your data.

No. We will not retain any backups after 31 May 2026. You are responsible for backing up and migrating all of your data before the termination date.

You should use your preferred backup method to copy all data from your bare metal servers before 31 May 2026. If you need assistance with backup strategies, please contact our support team.

Our support team can answer questions about the termination timeline and migration planning. However, we will not be providing hands-on technical assistance with migrating data or deploying new services at other providers. If you have questions about your specific migration needs, please contact support@ingenuitycloudservices.com.

IP Addresses & DNS

All IP addresses provided by Ingenuity Cloud Services are owned by us and will be reclaimed on 31 May 2026. You cannot transfer these IP addresses to another provider.

If you have brought your own (BYO) IP prefixes that are currently deployed on our platform, these will be de-announced on 31 May 2026 if they have not been migrated before that date.

No. After 31 May 2026, Ingenuity Cloud Services will not:

  • Forward email
  • Maintain DNS records
  • Update WHOIS records on your behalf

You must update all DNS, email, and WHOIS records to point to your new provider before 31 May 2026.

We recommend updating your DNS records well in advance of 31 May 2026. Consider:

  1. Setting low TTL values in advance (e.g., 300 seconds)
  2. Updating records to point to your new provider
  3. Monitoring the transition to ensure all traffic is routing correctly
  4. Allowing time for DNS propagation (typically 24-48 hours)

Alternative Options

You have three main options:

  1. Migrate to our SSD VPS offering (London or Salt Lake City) — includes 1-month promotional credit
  2. Switch to Leaseweb — our recommended partner for bare metal hosting. Leaseweb offers bare metal servers in the same or nearby locations as your current services, making them an ideal replacement option. Contact us for an introduction.
  3. Choose another provider of your preference

If you migrate to our SSD VPS product in either London or Salt Lake City, we will apply a 1-month promotional credit to your account for each service you migrate.

Reply to your termination notice ticket or contact support@ingenuitycloudservices.com to discuss your migration options and the credit available.

Simply reply to your support ticket indicating you would like an introduction to Leaseweb. We will share your contact details with Leaseweb directly, and they will reach out to you.

Leaseweb operates in or near the same locations as your current Ingenuity Cloud Services bare metal infrastructure.

Yes. You can choose different migration paths for different servers based on your requirements. Contact Support to discuss your specific needs.

SSD VPS (Virtual Private Server) and bare metal are different products with different characteristics:

  • Bare metal: Dedicated physical hardware, maximum performance, full control
  • SSD VPS: Virtual server on shared hardware, more cost-effective, still provides isolation and dedicated resources

Our SSD VPS product offers excellent performance for most workloads. Contact Support to discuss whether SSD VPS meets your requirements.
